Welcome to St Joseph's Parish School, Atherton

St Joseph’s Parish School, catering for boys and girls from Prep to Year 6, is an integral part of the Cairns Diocese and the Atherton Catholic Parish. Located approximately one hour’s drive from Cairns, Atherton sits within the heart of the naturally beautiful and agriculturally rich Atherton Tablelands. Despite its many changes over the years, St Joseph’s Parish School has remained committed to providing its students with a well-balanced and relevant education and curriculum.

This website is designed to provide a practical and informative view of our school but by no means replaces personal contact. Please browse at your leisure but also feel free to contact us at any time.

Latest News & Events

As we approach the Easter holidays, I would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and parents of St Joseph’s school for their ongoing support of our students’ education. We have a dedicated band of teachers and support staff who really go the extra mile for our students. Our parents are equally dedicated in all the work they do in ensuring that students are prepared and present at school each day. A special thank you is warranted for our amazing P&F group who have worked tirelessly to progress the construction of a new playground for the children. At the moment, we are awaiting final approval from the Diocesan Finance Committee. We can then proceed with placing an order to commence construction. Once approval has been received, I will post the design on the noticeboard for all to see.

This Thursday and Friday (4th & 5th April) we will be conducting our school’s Athletics Carnival. Thank you to all those parents who have volunteered to assist on the day. Your help is much appreciated in ensuring that the day/s run smoothly. An email was sent out yesterday, outlining requirements for the 2 days. Please take the time to read this information.

As previously advised, we will be conducting Parent-Teacher interviews in Week 2 of next term. They will be held from 3:15 to 5:30 on Monday 29 April and Tuesday 30 April. Bookings will be able to be made through the PTO (Parent Teacher Online) App, which is accessible through the parent portal, from Monday 22 April. Instructions for doing this are detailed below. If you experience any difficulty, please don’t hesitate to contact the ladies in the office for assistance.

HOLY WEEK / EASTER 2019
This year, Easter falls on the last Sunday of the School holidays and we return to school after the Easter Monday holiday. So, in reality we are still in the middle of Lent when our holidays start this Friday. For that reason, we have decided that we will celebrate Easter when we return from the holidays. We ask for your assistance with this by not sharing any Easter treats at school, until we return from holidays when we will truly have reason to celebrate the great feast of Easter - whilst we are in the Easter Season! A whole school Easter Mass will be celebrated when we return in Term 2.

ENROLMENTS FOR 2020

Thank you to those parents who have been very proactive in making their applications for Prep enrolments in 2020. I have already conducted a number of enrolment interviews. I will be making offers of placement after the Easter holidays, so please contact the office for an enrolment pack or complete an online application through the school’s website if you have a child commencing in Prep next year.
