Prep Liturgy 10.15am

Our Prep students celebrated their Friendship liturgy in the church this morning.  It was wonderful to see how much they have grown in confidence and ability to read, sing, and do actions.  It was a lovely liturgy.  Thanks to the parents and grandparents who were able to share the liturgy.

Latest News & Events

This year, 5 transition mornings are being offered.  Commencing tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 15 September) pre-preps have been invited to spend the first session of the day in our Prep class so as to gain some feel for what is ahead.

Attending a new environment for the first time can be quite daunting.  To help minimize the anxiety children experience when leaving one environment to come into another we have scheduled these transition sessions so that the children attending St Joseph’s in 2022 will have the opportunity to:

  • familiarize themselves with the school buildings and playground
  • be exposed to some of the routines and procedures we have in place
  • take part in some of the activities associated with our Early Childhood Unit

Lots of fun experiences will be given to these precious little children so that they to come to meet the prep teachers and school officers; meet their new friends for the next 6 years and become a little more familiar with their physical surroundings.

Parents will be offered educational workshops in a nearby room to discuss and learn about all things important to Prep life.  This also gives our new parents the opportunity to ask any questions they may still have. This is a wonderful experience for all!!

Occasions like this are very important to our school community and we welcome these families, new and present, to our school community as they begin the formal educational journey of their children.

Wow…what a turn out we had last week at our Fathering Project – Planes and Pizza Night!  Thank you to all the dads, grandads, uncles, brothers, friends who came along to support such a worthwhile event.  I was in awe seeing so many participate and enjoy an evening of healthy competition.

Children want to make their dads proud, and an involved dad promotes inner growth and strength. Studies have also shown that when dads are affectionate and supportive, it greatly affects a child’s cognitive and social development; it instils an overall sense of well-being and self-confidence. So, a genuine thank you to our father-figures who came along to support our students…..I hope you all had some fun!

The enrolment process for our 2022 Prep classes has commenced. As existing families with Prep age children receive priority placement, I urge existing families to ensure they have lodged their enrolment form.

I would also ask for your assistance in informing new families who may be considering enrolling their child here at St Joseph’s in any grade to make contact with the school as soon as possible. Word of mouth is always the best form of communication and I am always thankful for the positive feedback I hear from new enrolments, and I am most appreciative of those of you who spread the “good news” about our great school.
